WeTheNorth Tor links
Everything on this page is about the .onion side of the WeTheNorth Market — the address that opens only inside the Tor Browser, and why that is the side you want to be on.
What opening a Tor link actually does
When you load an .onion page, your traffic is relayed through three volunteer-run Tor nodes before reaching the service. Each hop peels away one layer of encryption — that is the "onion". The result: the market sees traffic from a Tor circuit, not your home IP; your ISP sees only that you use Tor, not where you go; and the 56-character address is itself derived from the service's public key, so the site you reach is provably the site you asked for. No certificate authority, no DNS, no middleman to attack.
Getting set up — 5 minutes, once
- Download Tor Browser from torproject.org — Windows, macOS, Linux or Android.
- Open it and press Connect.
- Paste the onion address above and wait for the first circuit (10–30 seconds).
- Bookmark the market page. Your future visits start from that bookmark — never from a link someone pasted at you.
In a rush to browse? The clearnet mirrors wtnmarket.net, wtnmarket.ru and wtnmarket.store work in any browser — but logins and orders belong on Tor.
Tor vs the mirrors — the honest comparison
- Privacy: Tor wins outright. On a mirror, your ISP logs the connection; on onion, it cannot.
- Speed: mirrors usually load a beat faster — three hops cost time. For big browsing sessions, mirror + Tor for checkout is a fine pattern.
- Security: a v3 onion address cannot be counterfeited the way a look-alike domain can. On Tor, the address is the identity.
- Availability: mirrors exist for redundancy; the onion service is canonical. All are on our official links list.
Three Tor habits worth keeping
1. New circuit before you panic
A page that will not load is usually a bad circuit, not a dead market. Tor menu → "New Tor circuit for this site" fixes most "outages".
2. The security level slider
Tor Browser ships with a security setting — set it to "Safest" for market use. JavaScript off means less attack surface on pages you only came to read.
3. Do not layer a VPN unless you know why
Tor-over-VPN can make sense in specific cases; VPN-over-Tor mostly just adds trust to a third party. For market access, plain Tor from Tor Browser is the community default.
Common questions
- "Can I open the onion link in Chrome?" No — .onion resolves only inside Tor (or a browser with a Tor extension). That is a feature, not a bug.
- "Do I need Tor for the forum?" The forum is on clearnet too (wtnforum.net), so no — Tor is just the more private option.
- "Is the market's Tor link ever down?" Briefly, during maintenance or heavy attack — the mirrors keep the market reachable while it recovers. Our access guide covers what to try first.
